“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 1:9
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3,4
If all people who call themselves Christian really are Christian, why so many different denominations, and why so many differing beliefs?
If all are Christian, why are there so many different doctrines?
It seems that each different denomination has its own doctrine, so which one is actually correct? Is it the Reformed, Calvinist, the Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian, Mormon, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Baptist, Protestant, the Methodist, the Lutheran, the Church of Christ, Wesleyan etc etc etc?? (That’s already 14 right there!)
Who is actually right? Which one particular denomination has the correct doctrine? And why do people choose the denomination they are in?
This is where I could pick apart a few doctrines, but that would take some time.
My point is though, that denominations are just a system that the Enemy has devised to cause division, confusion, deception and ultimately, death. He has come to rob, kill and destroy and he is, in part, using denominations to do this.
I see denominations as a counterfeit to the Body of Christ, because each person within the Body has a different role – some are the feet, some are the hands, some are the eyes etc, but all are meant to work together for Him. See 1 Corinthians 12
Most denominations have their ‘roles’ as well – some speak out against abortion, some are trying to evangelise to the lost, some visit prisoners and the sick, etc.. All of those are great and noble things to do, but when done out of God’s order are works of the Enemy.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:21-23
Not all denominations are working together as the Body of Christ is meant to as detailed in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, and not all those denominations are doing the will of God (see verses above from Matthew).
All of those members of the Body work together, whereas denominations separate and divide.
Now this is where this post gets interesting. There is yet another wily scheme of the Enemy to try to prove people like myself **(who are trying to warn others) wrong. There is now a worldwide movement headed by one of the largest “Christian” denominations, and it’s trying to draw all denominations together under “God”. This is a master plan by the Enemy to get everyone believing that they are all worshiping the same “God”, just in different ways. The human leader of this is encouraging “unity” of not only denominations, but religions as well. He is saying that we all worship the one “God” and we are all united. Well, this probably couldn’t be much further from the truth if he tried. There is no such thing in the Bible that sates all religions and denominations are one. In fact, if memory serves, the Bible speaks of major division and a falling away from the true faith.
Don’t be deceived, because this plan is a very calculated, smooth one that is designed to lead people away from the One true God.
This leads me back to where I started, that those who do not have the doctrine of Christ are not true, born again Christians. All those different denominations simply cannot be right, because they do not all have the truth. Oh, they may have part of the truth, but the rest of the lies and false doctrine leaven the whole lump!
I hope this has given you food for thought if you are one of those people that believe that everyone who says they are a Christian are, and that denominations don’t matter.
**I just need to add that I’m no theologian nor great Christian, I’m just someone who was once deceived so am trying to warn others about deception.
