Slain in the spirit.

This is just going to be a quick post about being “slain in the spirit” and how it isn’t from God the Holy Spirit.
I will take a quick look at what this means, and will include a post by someone else who goes into detail with scripture to back up why this is unbiblical. I will also link to a previous post of mine with some youtube clips.

First of all, I need to say that I was involved in a ‘home church’ type of group where weird manifestations happened, and I was nearly ‘slain’ twice, so I am not just speaking from a place of ignorance. I am speaking through personal experience. But don’t take my word for it, read on and read the post and look into the Bible yourself. Ask the Lord to reveal HIS truth to you, not man’s. Look into the history of where this movement came from yourself and hopefully the Lord will reveal to you why this is the counterfeit work of the Enemy.

First of all, a few definitions. The first quote is from a comment on the post I will link to down the bottom.  It absolutely hits the nail on the head!
“Slain in the Spirit = murdered in the spirit…. who wants to die in the Spirit? We are to LIVE by the Spirit not DIE.
Drunk in the Spirit? We are not supposed to get drunk why would the true Spirit teach us something CONTRARY to the New Testament?

The person has made an excellent point, so I thought I’d look into it some more.
The definition of “slain” –
> “Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
Slain. SLAIN, participle passive of slay; so written for slayen. Killed.”
> “to kill violently, wantonly, or in great numbers”

I thought I’d also look up the word ‘drunk’ as well. Interesting.
> “dominated by an intense feeling
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 Corinthians 5:7
“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17
We are not to have a faith based on emotions or feelings, but faith.

> The first case of intoxication on record is that of Noah (Genesis 9:21). The sin of drunkenness is frequently and strongly condemned (Romans 13:13; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; Ephesians 5:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:7, 8). The sin of drinking to excess seems to have been not uncommon among the Israelites.
> ” Intoxicated; inebriated; overwhelmed or overpowered by spirituous liquor; stupefied or inflamed by the action of spirit on the stomach and brain. It is brutish to be drunk”
(I guess they call liquor ‘spirits’ for a reason.)

So, to be slain in the spirit is to be killed in the spirit. Did you get that? To be slain in the spirit is to be KILLED in the spirit! Read it again and really let it sink in.
What does the Bible say that God does to our spirits?
“For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth [them]; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.” John 5:12
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” Romans 4:17
God does not kill our spirits, He quickens them, or makes them alive.
> Quickeneth/quickens – “Primarily, to make alive; to vivify; to revive or resuscitate, as from death or an inanimate state.”

If this doesn’t make you sit up and take notice, then I truly don’t know what will.
I implore you, if you have had this happen, or if you do this to others, you need to repent. You need to confess this as sin and ask the Lord’s forgiveness and deliverance. (And no, I don’t mean deliverance as a type of exorcism, I’m talking true deliverance from Jesus.) This is not a small thing, this is a huge thing.
Also, if you do this to others, you will have to answer for every single person you have done this to. This is giving credit to the Holy Spirit for something that the Enemy is doing. Please repent.

Another thing..“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance*: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22,23
*Temperance means ‘self control’. (More definitions below.)

If one of the fruits of the spirit is self control, why would God’s ‘spirit’ cause people to act as if drunk or high on drugs, laugh uncontrollably, writhe around without any control, shake and convulse uncontrollably, or make weird animal sounds uncontrollably etc etc?
Why would God allow one of His children to lose complete control of themselves while being “slain in the spirit” when one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit indwelling the Christian is self control??
It flies in the face of and goes in complete contradiction to His word!

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles* of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11
*Wiles – ” A trick or stratagem practiced for ensnaring or deception; a sly, insidious artifice.
The Enemy is out to trick as many people as he can to get them away from the truth. Don’t be one of them.

WILE, verb transitive To deceive; to beguile.”

Temperance – again, ‘self control’.
“1. Moderation; particularly, habitual moderation in regard to the indulgence of the natural appetites and passions; restrained or moderate indulgence; as temperance in eating and drinking; temperance in the indulgence of joy or mirth. temperance in eating and drinking is opposed to gluttony and drunkenness, and in other indulgences, to excess.
2. Patience; calmness; sedateness; moderation of passion.”

Here is a post that explains it so much better than I. I urge you to read it and ask the Lord to open your eyes and heart to the truth.
