Jesus or Santa? (2 Timothy 4:4)

The picture on the left says under the Santa: “Keep the MERRY”, and under the Jesus it has “Dump the MYTH.”  *I know it isn’t a picture of the real Jesus, but the purpose of this picture is to make my point.

As Christians, the Bible tells us to follow the Truth, and that Truth is Jesus Christ, the One who died to pay the penalty for the world’s sins so we could be reconciled with God.
When we add things like Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy (any fairies), superheroes etc we are adding fables.
“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:4
“Not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.” Titus 1:14
“For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.” 2 Peter 1:6
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4

Looking at the photo above it is clear to see that the world’s Jesus is actually Santa.
I have a comparison below that should highlight to you the brilliant counterfeit that the world has adopted as their own saviour.
I urge you, if you are a professing Christian, and teach your children about Santa as well as Jesus, that you are doing them a disservice.
I have heard people say that it encourages their child’s imagination, but really it’s teaching them fables, which we are warned about in God’s word. There are much better, and actual true accounts in the Bible that will ignite their imaginations much better. Think of the three men in the furnace who didn’t get burnt up,  or Daniel in the lion’s den, or David slaying the giant, or the dragons/dinosaurs (I believe there were even fire breathing ones) etc. These stories don’t just fire up the imagination, they are true historical accounts and show God’s glory. What better foundation can children have?

I don’t take credit for this comparison as I found it some years back.
If I were still celebrating Christmas and teaching my children about Santa, this would be very convicting to me.

I urge you to seriously consider this information, pray about it and seek the Lord on the matter. What we do on earth now has consequences, either good or bad, in eternity.
